Samsung's One UI 8 with Android 16 to Feature AI-Powered Video Summarization in Native Browser

Galaxy S25 Series Will Enable On-Device AI Summaries of Online Videos via Samsung Internet

April 30, 2025 — As Samsung begins the long-awaited rollout of One UI 7 based on Android 15, eyes are already turning toward the next major software update: One UI 8, which will be based on Android 16. A key new feature under testing in the upcoming version is AI-powered video summarization, allowing users to generate summaries of any online video directly within Samsung Internet.

This functionality is currently in a hidden testing mode, but once officially released, it will let users condense online videos—such as lectures, news reports, and tutorials—into brief AI-generated summaries for quicker consumption.

Powered by On-Device AI in Galaxy S25 Series

According to early findings, the Galaxy S25 series will support this feature entirely on-device, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which includes dedicated hardware for generative AI and natural language processing. This means video data won’t need to leave the device, preserving user privacy while delivering rapid results.

For now, the feature appears to be in internal testing only, and access is restricted to those who manually enable debug settings within Samsung Internet.

How to Enable (Testing Only Not Recommended for General Users):
  • Open Samsung Internet

  • Type internet://debug in the address bar and press Go

  • Tap the three-line menu in the bottom-right corner

  • Go to Settings > Debug settings > Single module tests > AI Summarize Settings

  • Enable “Video Summarize” near the bottom

  • image Note: This method is experimental and not guaranteed to work. It’s intended for developer testing and may cause unexpected issues.

A Leap Forward in Smart Browsing

With this AI feature, Samsung Internet could become the first major mobile browser to offer native AI summarization of video content, expanding the company’s suite of productivity tools under the Galaxy AI umbrella. This move aligns with broader trends across the industry as on-device AI becomes a core focus of flagship smartphones in 2025.

When Will One UI 8 Launch?

While Samsung is still catching up on delivering One UI 7, expectations are high for One UI 8 to launch more promptly, potentially alongside the Galaxy S25 series in late Q3 or early Q4 2025. If the current pace continues, Samsung could unveil One UI 8 with broader AI features, including video summarization, as part of its next-generation mobile software strategy.
