An IndiGo flight traveling from New Delhi to Srinagar faced a hailstorm before successfully landing at Srinagar Airport on Wednesday evening. The aircraft, which had 227 passengers on board, experienced challenging weather conditions as it approached the Kashmir Valley.
The flight, designated as IndiGo 6E2142 (Registration: VT-IMD), was in the process of landing when the pilot alerted Air Traffic Control about the emergency situation. Footage captured by passengers revealed a sense of panic among those aboard during the turbulent moments.
Airport officials confirmed that the aircraft landed safely at 6:30 PM, with all 227 passengers and crew members reported to be unharmed. IndiGo has classified the aircraft as Aircraft On Ground (AOG).
In a press release, IndiGo addressed the incident, stating, "IndiGo flight 6E 2142, operating from Delhi to Srinagar, encountered a sudden hailstorm during its journey. The flight and cabin crew adhered to the established protocols, ensuring a safe landing in Srinagar. Upon arrival, the airport team prioritized the wellbeing and comfort of the passengers. The aircraft will undergo necessary inspections and maintenance before being released."
