US election results early trends: Trump ahead in over 130 electoral votes, Harris in 99

As the 2024 US presidential race unfolds, key battleground states are showing early trends that could shape the outcome of the election. With a significant number of votes already counted in Texas, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia, both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are vying for crucial electoral votes.

What do early trends indicate?

In Texas, with 56% of the votes counted, Donald Trump is leading Kamala Harris by a solid margin, securing 3,890,132 votes (53.5%) to Harris’ 3,287,696 votes (45.3%). Texas’ 40 electoral votes remain a key prize, and Trump’s lead is expected to hold as more votes are tallied.


In New Hampshire, Kamala Harris is ahead with 54.5% of the vote (156,263 votes), while Donald Trump has 44.5% (127,639 votes). With 35% of the vote counted, Harris maintains a narrow but steady lead in this smaller swing state, which has 4 electoral votes at stake.

Virginia is showing a tight race, with Donald Trump slightly ahead at 49.8% (1,173,484 votes), while Kamala Harris trails closely with 48.5% (1,141,711 votes). Nearly half of the votes have been counted in Virginia, and the contest remains too close to call, with 13 electoral votes in play.

In North Carolina, Donald Trump is leading with 1,228,448 votes (51.9%) over Kamala Harris, who has 47.1% of the vote (1,115,048 votes). With 40% of the votes counted, Trump holds a slight edge in this key battleground state, which has 16 electoral votes.

In Georgia, Donald Trump is ahead with 52.5% of the vote (1,928,393 votes) to Kamala Harris’ 46.9% (1,719,963 votes), with 68% of the votes counted. Trump’s lead in Georgia, which also holds 16 electoral votes, is significant, but the outcome will depend on how the remaining votes are distributed.
