In a recent report by Forbes Adviser, Karachi has been identified as the second-most risky city for tourists, scoring 93.12 out of 100. The ranking places Karachi just behind Caracas, Venezuela, which topped the list with a score of 100. Yangon, Myanmar, secured the third spot with a score of 91.67. Bangladesh's capital Dhaka ranked as the 6th most risky city according to the report.

Caracas is recognized as the most risky city in the world for tourists. Factors contributing to this ranking include high crime rates, violence, political instability, and economic challenges. Karachi faces significant personal security risks, including crime, violence, terrorist threats, and natural disasters. The city's travel safety is rated as "level 3 - reconsider travel" by the US State Department. Additionally, Karachi struggles with poor infrastructure, ranking fourth in infrastructure security risks globally. Yangon's position as the third-most risky city stems from similar issues of crime and violence, along with political unrest and economic vulnerabilities.

Forbes Adviser evaluated 60 international cities based on seven key metrics to determine the most and least risky cities for tourists. Karachi's high ranking on this list reflects its ongoing struggles with security and infrastructure. The city has also appeared on previous lists of "unlivable" cities, such as the 2017 Economist Intelligence Unit's ranking, which placed Karachi among the top five "least livable" urban centers globally.

Top 10 most risky cities in the world for tourists:
1. Caracas (Venezuela)
2. Karachi (Pakistan)
3. Yangon (Burma)
4. Lagos (Nigeria)
5. Manila (Philippines)
6. Dhaka (Bangladesh)
7. Bogotá (Colombia)
8. Cairo (Egypt)
9. Mexico City (Mexico)
10. Quito (Ecuador)

In contrast to the most risky cities, Forbes Adviser also listed the safest cities for tourists. Singapore emerges as the world's safest city, with an exceptional score of 0, indicating minimal risk across all evaluated metrics. Tokyo follows closely, maintaining a reputation for safety, efficient infrastructure, and low crime rates. Toronto also ranks among the safest cities, with strong public safety measures and high-quality infrastructure.

While Asia hosts both the safest and some of the most risky cities, European cities generally rank lower in terms of risk. The highest-ranking European city on the list is Milan, Italy, at the 26th position. Other notable mentions include Rome at 28th and Paris at 31st. However, cities like Zurich, Copenhagen, and Amsterdam are among the safest globally.

Highlighting the ongoing security issues, a recent violent incident in Karachi's defence nishat commercial area resulted in five fatalities and several injuries. This event underscores the challenges faced by the city in ensuring the safety of its residents and visitors.
