In a bold move aimed at reshaping Rajasthan ’s economic future, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced an ambitious five-year plan to elevate the state’s economy to $350 billion.

The announcement was made during The Economic Times Rajasthan Business Summit in Jaipur, where the CM outlined his vision for transforming the desert state’s economy through a mix of traditional industries and cutting-edge digital innovation.

"Rajasthan will become a $350 billion economy in five years," declared CM Sharma, as he laid out a roadmap leveraging the state's abundant natural resources, including gold, iron, petroleum, and newly discovered lithium deposits.

The plan aims to create job opportunities, improve infrastructure, and push for environmentally sustainable energy and digital governance, bringing widespread changes to daily life.

In a significant development for the entertainment sector, CM Sharma also announced the establishment of a new Film City, with the land already identified for the project. "We identified the land in a matter of hours," he said, highlighting the government’s proactive approach.

The state is preparing to host the ‘Rising Rajasthan Investment Summit’ in December 2024, an event expected to attract both domestic and international investors.

A recent roadshow in Mumbai has already seen promising outcomes, with Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹4.5 lakh crore signed.

Urban development minister Jhabar Singh Kharra emphasised the state government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment. "Under CM Sharma's leadership, we've fostered a conducive climate for investments," Kharra said.

Known for its rich culture and tourism, Rajasthan is now positioning itself as a major economic hub. The government's plans encompass not only traditional industries but also digital technology and sustainable practices, marking a shift towards modern economic frameworks.

For the youth of Rajasthan, this initiative could open new career opportunities across various sectors, from tech to traditional industries. The state's economic transformation, as envisioned by CM Sharma, aligns with India's national goal of becoming a developed country by 2047.
