SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir education minister, Sakina Itoo , Thursday slammed party MP from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi , for accusing Omar Abdullah ’s govt of begging the Centre for the restoration of statehood and Article 370, exposing a subtle rift within National Conference .
“You should also remind Aga Ruhullah that he is an MP, elected by the people on the party’s ticket. If he accuses others of failing to speak up on the issues, what is he doing himself. He was sent to Parliament to raise these concerns. But he failed,” Itoo said.
Mehdi retorted, accusing the minister of “bending her back in obedience”. “Since their servility may not allow them to follow Parliament or read official communications, we will gladly courier a compilation of speeches, interventions and updates to their desks,” he said.
He claimed he met home minister Amit Shah, “demanding release of Kashmiri detainees”; besides “I flagged illegal detentions and Waqf encroachments issues. I took up railway, road and health issues.”
