NEW DELHI: Union minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday shared a video on social media showing Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw boarding a flight en route to review Vande Bharat Railway projects.

"While on the way to Nagpur in early morning, I could see from distance my colleague Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw boarding another flight to another city to review Vande Bharat Railway projects," Rijiju said while posting the video on his X account.

"He doesn't know but he'll know after landing," the minister jested.

Kiren Rijiju, Union minister of parliamentary affairs and minister of minority affairs, was traveling to Nagpur ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.

Hours after Rijiju's post, Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video of him arriving at Nashik, Maharashta. While addressing the Railway Protection Force Raising Day event, Vaishnav said that the government has no intention of privatizing the railway.

"There is no question of privatisation of the railways. I urge those spreading such rumours to remember the railways and defence are two backbones of India and must be spared all kinds of politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured the politicisation of the railways has stopped. The focus is on performance, safety, technology and providing affordable service to all," Vaishnaw said. The railway budget currently stands at Rs 2.5 lakh crore and 31,000 kilometres of new tracks have been laid in the last 10 years, which is more than the network of France, he said.
