Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won the game on Sunday thanks to a last-minute field goal, in part because of a late-game defensive pass interference penalty. Officials deemed the incident in question - Daijahn Anthony hit Rashee Rice before Mahomes could make a play on a deep pass - as one that gave Kansas City a new set of downs with 38 seconds remaining in the game. Quarterback for the Bengals , Joe Burrow , was shown reacting in disbelief to a penalty call as he sat on the bench with cameras catching the face of anger during the game.

Burrow is an American football quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League ( NFL ). He initially played college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes but later played for the LSU Tigers, where he won the Heisman Trophy and College Football Playoff National Championship as a senior. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted him first overall in the 2020 NFL draft.

Joe Burrow slams his helmet
Joe Burrow's emotions overshadowed his performance in a nerve-wracking Kansas City game, leading to a DPI call and a controversy that left him frustrated and disappointed, prompting him to take off his helmet and slam it on the ground. The Bengals, trailing by two and 48 seconds left, needed 16 yards in 4th down to get to the first down. Mahomes threw a ball down the field, but Rice couldn't hang onto it. The sideline ref threw a late flag, signaling a defensive pass interference, causing the Bengals to think they got away with the play.

Burrow, initially confident in his defense, was disappointed when the decision went against them. He removed his helmet and slamming it on the ground, claiming rookie DB Daijahn Anthony made early contact with Rice, resulting in the DPI penalty. The Chiefs and Mahomes scored a 51-yard field goal with 3 seconds left in a hard-fought game against the Bengals after a 29-yard penalty. The controversial call has divided opinions, with fans criticizing both the referees and the Chiefs for benefiting from another questionable decision.

The Bengals are currently 0-2 and face a challenging climb to regain.500 points. Cincinnati's performance improved after losing to the Patriots in Week 1, and they will face the Washington Commanders in their second home game this season, aiming for a win. The AFC North division is a challenging one, with the Pittsburgh Steelers currently leading with a 2-0 record, the Cleveland Browns second at 1-1, and the Bengals and Baltimore Ravens tied for last place with 0-2 records.
