A vibrant celebration of Chinese traditions and cultural exchange recently took place, graced by the presence of Xu Wei, the Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, along with Vice Consuls General He Tengyuan and Li Weishuo.
Attendees actively engaged in a diverse array of activities showcasing the heart of Chinese heritage. The program featured captivating performances like the traditional lion dance, alongside hands-on sessions for dumpling making, Chinese painting, and paper folding. Guests also enjoyed immersive experiences such as crafting Chinese lanterns, colouring Beijing opera masks, papercutting, exploring the Chinese zodiac, making Chinese fans, and designing bookmarks inspired by traditional Chinese art.
This cultural initiative, held at a school in Kolkata, aimed to foster deeper cross-cultural understanding and provided participants with valuable exposure to global customs, traditions, and artistic expressions. It offered a unique chance to directly experience the vibrancy of Chinese heritage. Through these immersive activities, individuals not only discovered the richness of another culture but also cultivated an appreciation for the values of unity, respect, and global harmony. The occasion served as a tribute to international friendship, intercultural learning, and the shared joy of exploring the world together. Speaking about the event, Xu Wei, Chinese Consul General in Kolkata said , “Chinese Culture Day reflects the warmth and growing friendship between China and India.
