Mangaluru: Panambur police arrested six persons, including a foreign national, on drug trafficking charges. The operation led to the seizure of cocaine, MDMA, and a scooter. Acting on a tip-off about two young men dealing drugs along the KIOCL back road, Panambur PSI Sreekala KT, under the guidance of Mangaluru North sub-division ACP Shrikant K, arrested Chandan and Sharath, recently. Their statements led to the arrest of four more accused involved in the drug trade: Madhusudhan Konchadi, Dhanush Akashbhavan, Mukesh Derebail, and Nigerian national Michael Balaji, alias Azabike Johnny.
Police seized a total of 11 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs 91,000. They also confiscated a two-wheeler allegedly used in the drug trade, along with nine mobile phones. According to city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, all those arrested work in private jobs, including catering and painting. The accused were presented before a court and then remanded to judicial custody.
This operation was carried out under the guidance of police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, with directions from DCPs Sidharth Goyal and Dinesh Kumar. Led by ACP Shrikant K, the team included Panambur police inspector Mohammed Saleem Abbas, sub-inspector Sreekala KT, and head constables Premananda, Satish MR, Sayyad Imtiyaz, Cherian K, and James, along with police constables Shashikumar, Rakesh LM, and Manjunath. The Mangaluru North sub-division anti drug squad, led by PSI Raghavendra M Naik with staff members Sunil HM, Vinayak, and Basavaraj, also participated.
