5 held in Aligarh and Muzaffarnagar for uploading pro-Pak content on social media

Agra: In three separate incidents, five individuals have been arrested in Aligarh and Muzaffarnagar for allegedly uploading pro-Pakistan content on social media, police said on Saturday.

In Aligarh, Kamruddin, 45, and his sons Mohammad Ali and Amir Ali, both in their early 20s and residents of Khair, were arrested. Mohammad Ali allegedly uploaded a pro-Pakistan video on Whatsapp at the behest of his father and brother.

DSP Khair Varun Kumar said, "A video containing an anti-national remark was posted online. Three people were arrested and sent to jail. A case was registered under BNS section 353-1, which pertains to the circulation of false information and online rumours. Further investigation is underway, and action will be taken accordingly."

In Muzaffarnagar, two separate arrests were made. In the first case, Shahvez Ahmed, a painter from Morna village, was arrested for allegedly uploading a video with controversial remarks on his status on social media. The video featured a person making objectionable comments on the conflict between India and Pakistan. Police charged him with BNS section 353-1, with promoting enmity and spreading misinformation.

In a separate incident, Anwar Jameel, a resident of Muzaffarnagar city, was arrested after a video surfaced on Friday allegedly showing him hailing Pakistan. Police confirmed that a case was registered against Jameel under section BNS 353-1 for making inflammatory statements and disturbing public peace.

Muzaffarnagar SP Sanjay Kumar said, "They have been jailed, and further investigations are ongoing." Authorities have reiterated that strict monitoring of online content continues, and stern action will be taken against those spreading anti-national content.
