Former President Donald Trump's campaign was aware of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's racist remarks about Puerto Rico and Latinos before the Madison Square Garden rally, The Bulwark reported Monday citing four sources. The publication further added that the Republican nominee's team struck down a 'joke' the podcaster planned to tell attendees on Sunday. The Bulwark cited sources to add that Hinchcliffe had a joke calling Vice President Kamala Harris a 'c**t'. The report explained that Trump's campaign asked all speakers to turn in drafts of their speeches ahead of time to load into the teleprompted. The campaign source said that a staffer spotted the C-word and asked Hinchcliffe to remove it.Read More: At the rally on Sunday, Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage", sparking backlash from Republicans and Democrats and accusations of racism. When asked about the remark, a Trump advisor said that the joke is not what the former president stands for. Soon after Hinchcliffe made the joke, some top Latin celebrities, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny shared a video of Harris talking about her Puerto Rico policy. He further added that Lationos 'loved making babies'. Responding to criticism from Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, the comedian said: "These people have no sense of humour. I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone… watch the whole set."
