Just two days after SM Entertainment revealed that Seunghan would be returning to RIIZE following his 10-month long hiatus, the label has announced his departure from the beloved K-pop group. As per the label, Seunghan wanted to leave RIIZE for the sake of both the other members and their dedicated fans.
Seunghan officially leaves RIIZETaking to X (formerly known as Twitter), SM Entertainment announced Seunghan's departure from RIIZE. "We thought for a long time that if Seunghan repented of his past mistakes and returned to show RIIZE once again growing to the next level as a team, we would be able to give artists and fans greater happiness," the label wrote, before adding, "After reflecting on the opinions and reactions sent by the fans one by one after the announcement of the return news, we realized that our decision only caused more confusion and hurt to the fans."
According to Wizard Production, the team behind RIIZE, Seunghan had personally expressed his desire to leave the group following fans' mixed reactions. "Seunghan has expressed his intention to leave the team for the members and fans. We respect the artist's decision, and I would like to inform you that Seunghan has left the RIIZE, not joined again," the statement read. For the unversed, in 2023, Seunghan was caught up in multiple controversies after pre-debut pics and clips of him surfaced online. In the leaked media, the RIIZE member could be seen smoking, hanging out with girls and allegedly badmouthing another K-pop idol.
