Nithya Menen on bagging the National Award, netizens' reactions During an exclusive conversation with Rudrani Chattoraj, Nithya Menen shared that she feels at peace after winning the Best Actress National Award for her role in Thiruchitrambalam, "For me anything material or external, it has to make an impact on me internally and the National Award immediately just put my brain at ease because I'm always doing things against the grain. I know that nobody is understanding the reason why I'm doing it, but I still do it. It's been a constant effort for 14-15 years. So, I was surprised by the impact that it (the award) has on you. It validated my choices more than anything," she said.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw77cM9f32Q
The actress also addressed the mixed reactions to her National Award win. For the unversed, many Sai Pallavi fans thought the star should have bagged the Best Actress National Award for her role in Gargi. Many, who took to social media to share their thoughts, were surprised that a rom-com's lead actress had won over Sai portrayal in the legal drama. "I think as always as I have done, with every film and every choice in my entire career, this is the same this. It is a statement. It is also a road less travelled. I will always be the person who takes a different road and still be there. I don't think anyone can argue that it shouldn't come to me," Nithya told us.
