Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) innovative Mumbai Beautification Project has introduced the 'Hop On-Hop Off' initiative beneath the J.J. Flyover. The initiative has garnered widespread praise from both Mumbaikars and tourists as decommissioned Brihanmumbai Electric Supply Transport (BEST) buses have been creatively beautified. The Mumbai civic body took to social media platform X to share the news about the same. Posting the video of the decommissioned BEST buses, the X handle of the Mumbai civic body wrote, ''As part of the BMC's innovative Mumbai Beautification Project, the 'Hop On-Hop Off' initiative, developed in the open space beneath the J.J. Flyover, is receiving appreciation from both Mumbaikars and tourists alike.''
The decommissioned BEST buses have been creatively repurposed, featuring vibrant new look and transformed into an art gallery, library, and restaurant, adding a unique cultural and recreational space to the city. The X handle further wrote, ''Decommissioned BEST buses have been transformed with a fresh new look and repurposed into an art gallery, library, and restaurant.'' In another development, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde announced a Diwali bonus for the employees of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday. This comes nearly 15 days ahead of the festival lights and this year, the CM has announced a gratuity grant of Rs 29,000 for BMC officers and employees in Mumbai."A demand was made by the Coordinating Committee of various Workers and Employees Associations of the Municipal Corporation regarding Diwali - 2024 Prityertha Sanugrah grant to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Officers/Employees. Also Chief Minister Shri. Eknath Shinde was also followed up," an official BMC press release read."After the discussion between the Chief Minister and Municipal Corporation Commissioner, it has been announced that the following will be given to the Municipal Corporation Officers/Employees for Diwali – 2024.
