Brampton: An 18-year-old woman from Canada's Brampton has been taken into custody following a shocking car theft incident captured on doorbell camera footage. Sarah Badshaw faces multiple charges, including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, and failure to remain after an accident resulting in bodily harm.The incident occurred on September 6 at around 2 PM local time near the intersection of Winston Churchill and Eglinton Avenue. Police reports detail that Badshaw feigned interest in a 2022 Porsche Cayenne, which was advertised for sale on Autotrader. Video evidence shows her ringing the doorbell of the victim's home and asking to inspect the vehicle. However, once inside, she quickly reversed out of the driveway, striking the vehicle's owner as she fled.The victim, who had exited the passenger side and attempted to open the driver’s door, was knocked to the ground and dragged into the street. He sustained injuries to his elbow, hands, and legs, necessitating medical attention, as reported to CTV News Toronto.Following the incident, Badshaw voluntarily surrendered to authorities on September 19. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton the following day. The stolen Porsche was discovered abandoned in Mississauga on September 18.Police have also indicated that Badshaw had an accomplice waiting nearby in a grey Bentley Bentayga during the theft. Additionally, she has a prior history of fraud-related offences in the Peel region and is wanted by other police agencies in the Greater Toronto Area for ongoing investigations.This troubling incident highlights concerns over car thefts and the tactics employed by thieves. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant when selling vehicles and to report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
