Genk star Tolu Arokodare has made no secret of his desire to join Manchester United amid rumours of a potential transfer to Old Trafford. After bagging an impressive 23 goals in 45 games this term and delivering his highest-scoring season to date, he has grabbed the attention of some top-tier clubs. United are understood to be close to finalising a deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo but could bolster their attacking line-up further by recruiting Nigerian sensation Arokodare .
Ruben Amorim wasted no time in his recruitment this summer and announced a deal to sign Wolves' Matheus Cunha for £62.5million as the transfer window opened. Mbeumo now looks set to also join the Reds for a similar amount. With a strike rate of 30 direct goal contributions this season, or two every three games on average, Arokodare has openly expressed his love for United and his aspirations to play in the Premier League.
"Obviously, it's a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure," the 24-year-old told Sports Boom (via the Manchester Evening News). "Whatever options I have, I'll take my time and make the best decision.
"I'm a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Of course, it would be a dream come true."
Since joining Genk in January 2023, Arokodare has netted an impressive 40 goals in 108 matches, along with providing 12 assists. After initially taking time to adjust to the Pro League, he now appears ready for the next step in his career.
His goal count over the past couple of seasons accounts for roughly half of the 83 goals he has scored as a professional to date. He debuted for Latvian outfit Valmiera in 2019, where he scored 22 times in 34 games, before loans to Koln and Amiens, though he failed to score in 11 outings for the former.

Only Sint-Truiden's Adriano Bertaccini managed to equal Arokodare's goal tally this season. However, Genk's leading man clinched the Pro League's Golden Boot due to his superior assist record.
Amorim is determined to bolster United's attacking options following a disappointing 2024/25 season. The team's total of 44 goals was their lowest in the Premier League era, while their 15th place finish was also the worst on record for the club.
Rasmus Hojlund struggled to make an impact as United's main striker, often appearing out of his depth despite previously showing potential. Joshua Zirkzee was signed from Bologna for £36.5million last summer but had a shaky debut season in red before an injury in April effectively ended his campaign.
The addition of Cunha and potentially Mbeumo will enhance their attacking depth, but Arokodare would bring something different. Despite standing at 6'5" tall, the relatively unknown forward possesses surprising speed and could provide Amorim with a traditional target man capable of effectively creating chances for those around him.
However, Arokodare also deviates from the traditional hold-up play by preferring to move into wider channels to create space for his team-mates. And it seems that if United are impressed with what they see, he would be willing to facilitate the transfer.
