Subscribers to streaming service Disney+ can currently watch an Oscar-winning World War II movie with an impressive 91% Rotten Tomatoes rating deemed "perfect" by those who have seen it. Jojo Rabbit is a star-studded 2019 offering from director Taika Waititi. It stars Scarlett Johansson as the mother of the titular Jojo, Roman Griffin Davis in his breakthrough performance. Thomasin McKenzie plays a Jewish girl who hides in their attic. Meanwhile, Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, and Alfie Allen also feature, while Taika himself takes on the role of a satirical version of Hitler who is Jojo's imaginary friend. It was nominated for six Academy Awards, and Taika took home the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for his efforts.

When Express.co.uk recently spoke to comedian Al Murray and historian James Holland in advance of their We Have Ways World War II festival, they praised the film. "I thought the depictions of the Germans in Jojo Rabbit were really incredibly effectively done," James said, and Al agreed. They are not alone in their praise for the film; people have taken to Google to share their affection for it.

"Jojo Rabbit is by far one of the best original movies this century," one gushed. "A bold claim considering it's a movie about nazis, but trust me, this movie is heart-warming, emotional and very funny at times, fully supported by an excellent cast. Taika Waititi playing Hitler is a masterstroke, and every scene he is in makes you laugh. I really recommend this movie."

"Honestly, the best film all year...It is an emotional experience...If you want a lifechanging experience go see this movie...This movie has made a great impact on me and will make a great impact on you. See it now while you can," a second added.

A third chimed in: "It's very powerful in the sense that it can create humour out of one of the darkest periods of human history. The people behind the film really achieved a perfect balance of comedy and escapism while showing the harsh reality of living in a country on the brink of losing a war.

"The film really does not shy away from showing war crimes, in particular those perpetrated by the victors, really writing home the notion that history is written by the victors. I really didn't expect myself to enjoy this film, but it seems to just get everything right," they reflected.

"Best movie ever. The cast is perfect, the script is tremendous, and I laughed and cried the whole way through. Kid actors usually annoy me, but my god, Jojo deserves an award for this, my absolute favourite. 5/5 I tell everyone who I think has a good sense of humour to watch this," a fourth penned.

"If you're a historian and like comedy movies, this is the movie for you! Funny scenes, along with the best actors, make it great while keeping on a serious note. The fall of Berlin scenes were the best at showing how desperate things got, literally sticking grenades to the back of kids and making them fight. Perfect movie," a fifth raved.

Meanwhile, a sixth opined: "Honestly, the most amazing film I've ever watched. It had everything you wanted in a film. The jokes put a smile on your face, and a surge of laughter would take over the room. The emotion and change of mood were perfect. Some of the shots and transitions were like no other. The music along with it was perfect. Honestly, the best film of 2020. It will be hard to beat!"
