A cleaning guru has shared four foolproof ways to keep your house smelling fresh all year round.

TikTok user Clean with Lily has revealed the four methods she uses to ensure her home "smells amazing" - no matter how many pets you have, or what you've been cooking in the kitchen.

"Here are four of the best hacks to keep your home smelling fresh," she said.

Sink method

In her video, she is seen filling her sink with water before adding a fragranced cleaning product, saying: "It makes the whole house smell great."

Lily used Zoflora, but similar products would also work.

Put your toilet roll to good use

Next, she suggests placing the same cleaning product inside your toilet roll tube to make your bathroom "smell great".

You'll want to ensure you don't use any of the sheets that have been touched by the product. Alternatively, you can keep old, used toilet rolls and cover them in the fragranced cleaning product before placing them around the bathroom - just make sure they're out of reach of children and pets.

Sticky tabs

Acknowledging that the third tip might be a bit "weird," Lily says adding essential oils to sticky tabs is a sneaky way to freshen the smell in hidden spots around your house without drawing attention to the source.

Simply stick a small cutting of kitchen roll to one side of the sticky tab and drench in your preferred essential oil before sticking them wherever you want a pleasant smell. Again, make sure to place them out of reach of children and animals.

Tumble dryer sheets

Finally, sharing a well-known trick, she says placing tumble dryer sheets inside your cushion covers can make a world of difference to your home's overall scent.

Commenting on her post, one user said: "Never tried Zoflora - what scents do you recommend? My go-to disinfectant is always the Astonish ones."

Sharing their own tips, one Reddit user said: "Wash all the linens, carpets, and curtains. Dust everything with scented dust cloths, including blinds. Sanitise everything. Basically, it's a massive deep clean. It lasts for months with regular upkeep."

Another added: "I'm overly concerned about how my house smells. I take the rubbish out frequently and remove stinky food waste straight away. I keep the windows open when possible and make sure the dishes and bathroom stay clean.

"I use sprays, incense, or candles -but never more than one at a time.

"Also, remember you go nose-blind to your own home. Good smells as well as bad. I've never had any complaints, but I've had lots of compliments - so I figure it's all good."

A third user said: "Do a deep clean: wipe down your walls, wash your curtains and blinds, steam clean your furniture (depending on the fabric), air out and deodorise your mattresses, clean your cabinet doors, steam clean carpets, clean your windows, etc.

"A lot of smells stick to surfaces, so a deep clean helps. Also, if you have vents, make sure those get cleaned out and the filters are changed."

A final user added: "Using scented products, candles, or sprays is just going to add another smell to a stinky home.

"You need to clean things that hold onto odour. Wash all fabrics. Deep-clean your fridge regularly.

"Take everything out of closets and cupboards, and clean the shelves and floors. Use a dehumidifier if your house is damp, and so on."
