Holger Rune defends rapid coaching changes after cycling through Becker and Mouratoglou

has defended his decision to hire and fire coaches in quick succession after stints with some of the game's top mentors.

The world No. 14 split with Patrick Mouratoglou over the summer after three separate stints working together.

During one of their breaks, he also hired before the German stepped away a few months later.

Rune recently , more than two months after parting ways with Mouratoglou again. At the age of 21, the four-time title winner has already cycled through several high-profile mentors during his young career.

As well as Mouratoglou and Becker, Rune also worked with Roger Federer's ex-coach Severin Luthi. After reuniting with Christensen, Rune defended his unusual "coaching dance" approach.

"I have learned a lot from each coach," he told QuindiciZero.

"After working with the same coach for 15 years, I think it was important for me to try something different and get inspiration from other coaches to then figure out what was best for my game and my career."

Although the world No. 14 has ended up back with his childhood mentor, he has no regrets over his decision to bring new voices in. Rune continued: "If I hadn't done it at that time, I would have definitely needed to do it at another time.

"Now I have tried different approaches and they have all given me inspiration, in the end they either work or they don't.

"We all strive to become the best tennis players we can be and we know when we are reaching our potential and when we are not. I am much wiser now about what I need and what works for me."

Rune initially worked with Christensen until he hired Mouratoglou for the first time in late 2022. Their partnership was an immediate success - he beat five top-10 players in one week to win the Paris Masters and cracked the top 10 himself.

The Dane briefly split with Mouratoglou in the spring of 2023 before reuniting. Christensen even returned to the team for a spell. After Rune ended his partnership with Mouratoglou again, he brought Becker in for the rest of the season.

Luthi later joined them and Rune started the year with a super-team formed of Djokovic's old coach Becker and Federer's former mentor Luthi. But both men left his camp after the Australian Open and Mouratoglou returned in February.

The 21-year-old has also been working with Kenneth Carlson, who stayed with Rune after his third and final split with Mouratoglou in July. Carlson is still part of the team alongside Christensen.
