Lorraine Kelly left ITV viewers baffled after she make a surprise confession on Good Morning Britain. The Scottish journalist made a brief appearance on the breakfast show to talk about the latest showbiz headlines.
Speaking about the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club, presenter Richard Madeley asked Lorraine which celebrity she'd most like to portray her in a movie.
Lorraine responded: "Susan Boyle," to which Richard burst out laughing. However, fans were left confused why she was on the programme in the first place.
One person said on X, formally known as Twitter: "Susanna quietly putting herself on the same level as Emily Maitlis and then ruining it all by getting Lorraine involved."
Another person chimed in: "Lorraine is already playing a character called Lorraine!"
Earlier in the show, guest Doreen Soulsby broke down in tears live on the sofa, which prompted Susanna Reid to offer her some words of support.
Doreen appeared on the programme on Wednesday (September 18) to speak about the potential release of her daughter Joanne Tulip's killer, Steven Ling.
Ling brutally stabbed Joanne 60 times and admitted to raping her during the attack and was sentenced to life imprisonment in December 1998. However, due to the absence of a rape charge, he was not placed on a sex offender register.
Visibly emotional during the conversation, Doreen reached out for tissues while Susanna told her: "Tell us about your daughter, tell us about Joanne."
Doreen apologised for her response as Susanna consoled her, reports the Mirror. Recalling the ordeal, she said: "He confessed to [the rape], and even in prison he's admitting he raped. But the judge at the time chose not to put the rape through the trial because murder was the greater offence."
"[They said] it was an abusive court process and it would upset the family if they'd put it through court. But he's not a convicted sex offender and the attack was sexually driven."
Good Morning Britain airs daily on ITV and ITVX.
