US President Donald Trump left a CNN reporter red-faced as he criticised the media for their coverage of his strikes on Iran. The US President and his team were at the NATO summit in The Hague answering questions from the press about the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities when he brutally hit out at recent reports, branding several US news outlets as "scum".
In a live breaking news update on GB News, the show was interrupted to play footage from the event, as he was asked: "If the Iranians do rebuild, would the United States strike again?" He replied saying: "Sure, but I'm not going to have to worry about that." The President continued: "It's very tough to rebuild because it has all collapsed. Nobody can get in to see it, because it's collapsed."
He then praised the team behind the strike, which targeted key nuclear sites in Iran, as he said: "This was an unbelievable hit by genius pilots and genius people in the military but they are not being given credit for it because we have scum that are in this group."
Trump's brutal words kept coming as he listed off a number of reports that he had been unhappy with. "CNN are scum. MSNBC are scum. The NYT is scum," he fumed. "They're bad people, they're sick. What they've done is try to make this unbelievable victory into something else.
"Now even they admit that it was hit very hard, ok? But it wasn't hit hard; it was hit brutally. The original word that I used, I guess it got us in trouble because it was a strong word, but it was obliteration. And you'll see that, and it's going to come out. Israel is doing a report on it now, I understand."
He once again reiterated the good work that he claims his military team had done, before ripping into the reporters further, as he added: "I don't want it for me. I want it for the pilots, I want it for the military.
"They did such a good job... And then they get demeaned by these idiots at CNN who can't get ratings, and places dying that people don't even want to waste their time going on any of their shows.
"So they form with the New York Times, which is also dying. Without Trump you wouldn't have a New York Times!"
The blistering take-down of the US press comes as it was reported that Iran's nuclear program may in fact not be completely "destroyed" following this past weekend's Operation Midnight Hammer bombing raid.
