Erling Haaland netted his 300th career goal as Manchester City trounced Juventus 5-2, securing the top spot in Group G at the Club World Cup. Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden and Savinho - who scored a spectacular long-range goal - also found the back of the net as City delivered an exceptional performance amidst both scorching heat and a heavy downpour in Orlando on Thursday.
City's lead was challenged after Doku's early goal when Ederson inadvertently handed a goal to Teun Koopmeiners. However, their advantage was reinstated when Pierre Kalulu accidentally scored an own goal at the Camping World Stadium. Haaland, achieving a significant milestone in senior football for both club and country, came off the bench to score the third goal. Foden and Savinho then sealed the victory before Dusan Vlahovic managed a consolation goal.
The outcome ensures City advance with a flawless record from their three group matches and should, theoretically, have an easier path through the knockout stages.
Juve defeated City 2-0 when they clashed in the Champions League in December, but this was a vastly different team than the one that only managed a single win in a dismal 13-game run late last year.
This match also marked a significant step up for City, following two straightforward victories against Wydad Casablanca and Al Ain in the opening rounds of the competition.
With Ballon d'Or recipient Rodri making his first start since September, City were dynamic and full of energy. They got off to a quick start with Bernardo Silva's header being saved by Michele Di Gregorio's feet before they took the lead in the ninth minute through Doku.
Summer recruit Rayan Ait-Nouri set him up with an excellent through ball, and the Belgian found the net after cutting inside Kalulu. Juve quickly retaliated and City failed to capitalise on a let-off when Vlahovic skewed a shot wide.

Ederson recklessly lost possession from the ensuing goal kick and Koopmeiners blasted a shot past the Brazilian. City handled the setback well with Tijjani Reijnders, Rodri and Omar Marmoush all having shots blocked.
Their pressure yielded results in the 26th minute, although they were aided by a significant slice of luck as Kalulu deflected Matheus Nunes' pass into his own net past Di Gregorio.
The intense sunshine was replaced by heavy rain just before half-time, but City remained undeterred as Savinho fired at Di Gregorio before the keeper parried further attempts from Ait-Nouri and Marmoush.
Marmoush made way for Haaland at half-time and the Norwegian quickly made his presence felt.
Reijnders fed Nunes, who rolled a pass perfectly into Haaland's path in front of goal. His contact wasn't the cleanest, but his positioning was so good that he couldn't miss.
Ederson thwarted Vlahovic as Juve strived for a comeback, but it was Haaland who set up the fourth goal when his pass found Savinho, who then teed up Foden to power in from close range.
Savinho added another with flair, thundering a shot off the underside of the bar from distance after 75 minutes.
Despite being soundly defeated, Juve's Vlahovic continued to fight and managed to claw one back six minutes from time, thanks to some fine work by Kenan Yildiz.
