Sarah Sugden (played by Katie Hill) has been in turmoil on Emmerdale in recent months after discovering she was in the early stages of cervical cancer. The heartbreaking diagnosis was confirmed when the character started IVF treatment as she desperately wanted to start a family of her own.
In a shocking twist during tonight's instalment of Emmerdale, her friend Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) offered to be a sperm donor. Sitting down over a cup of coffee, she said: "I don't really know how to feel about your offer."
He repsonded: "It seems like a good solution. You know what kind of bloke I am and we are good mates. I just want things to be easy for you because everything else you are going through is so hard."

She added, "But how would it work? Would you co-parent? As you say, we are not a couple." Jacob insisted the offer was just about Sarah's needs, not his, and he would not be part of the baby's life.
Later on in the episode, Sarah apologised to Jacob for having a standoffish response to his gesture and agreed for him to be her donor. "So what, we are actually going to do this?" Jacob asked, to which Sarah said: "Yes, we actually are."
While the duo seemed thrilled with the decision, fans were not as enthusiastic, with many taking to X to shared their theories on the matter.
One person suggested: "Seems like a terrible idea. Sarah will die. Jake will end up with the kid. And have to be on the soap even longer. #emmerdale."
"I feel like Jacob is gonna want a part in the baby's life even if he doesn't say that now #Emmerdale," a second added.
Another noted: "This is getting way out of order: 20-year-old Sarah, who has so many medical problems, wants a baby, and Jacob says he is desperate to have a baby at 22."
However, someone else penned: "Love how Jacob is looking out for Sarah #Emmerdale."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
