Jon Kay let slip some big news on BBC Breakfast this mornng, leaving Sally Nugent horrified.

Sally and Jon were back at the helm of the BBC show today, where they chatted about the biggest news of the day and crossed over to Carol Kirkwood for the weather. Later, Nina Warhurst joined them in the studio to discuss rogue traders.

As they introduced Nina to the show for her segment, Jon left his co-star stunned when he revealed to Sally: "Nina's trying to make me do a half marathon with her," as Sally's face dropped.

"Can't believe you've just mentioned that on air. You've said it on the television now which means you'll have to do it!" she said, as Jon said: "I said trying to persuade me not that I'd do it..."

As Jon introduced Nina's rogue traders segment, Sally could be seen mouthing to Nina that there was no way Jon was going to do it. "Are you doubting me?" Jon asked.

Nina then added: "I'm using reverse psychology Sally. If I say he can't do the half marathon, then he'll say he is," as Sally added: "I'm worried about him, I don't think he should do it!"

Jon recently returned to the UK after presenting from the United States for the election.

After his last segment in the UK, Sally expressed her worry: "Jon, you still haven't said when you're going to sleep. I am going to worry about you all day now." Jon could only laugh in response: "I have no idea."

His stand in Ben Thompson added: " Pace yourself, it is going to be a long week, we might not see you for a few weeks if it keeps going on and on. Pace yourself, Jon. We will see you soon."

Jon was forced to explain his absence from a group photo.

Posting a snap of them together, fans were thrilled, with one writing: "My favourite Tele gang! The best breakfast team," while another added: "The favourite gang."

When Jon was quizzed about his absence, he chimed in: "When you organise a get-together for your Breakfast chums. And then realise you organised it on your day off..." leaving fans in hysterics
