Anton du Beke said "I feel like I could go" during his appearance on The One Show which led host Vernon Jones to plead "You have to stay".

The Strictly Come Dancing judge appeared on the iconic sofa to chat about his new book and tour - as well as the upcoming series of the BBC dancing competition.

However, as the interview came to a close, things took an awkward turn and Anton said he was going to leave, but "wanted to stay".

Alex Jones wrapped up: "Well, Anton's book is out next Thursday, and tickets for his tour, Showman are on sale now."

"Thank you very much," Anton said to the hosts as Vernon replied: "It has been a pleasure, my friend."

"That was marvellous, I feel like I could go but I want to stay because I want to hear about you too," Anton said to the other guests.

"You have to stay," Vernon insisted, "You're not going anywhere."

Alex chipped in: "You are staying," as her co-star added: "Stay there."

Before the moment unfolded, the Strictly judge excitedly discussed his new book and tour.

He shared: "So I've always wanted to write a sort of a spy novel, and I thought when I started writing novels, they were going to be spy novels, and then I got nominated for a romantic novel of the year, and realised they weren't quite as spy-ie as I thought."

Explaining the plot of his latest book, the professional dancer went on: "But there's more of that in this, although the relationship remains the same and Nancy's had a baby while Roman was away.

"She was pregnant obviously when he left, and when he came back, she had the baby, so he's gonna be introduced to his new family.

"But also, there's this big dance at the Albert Hall, somewhere I've danced many times before for the King, and the King was hugely important, obviously, at that period of time.

"And of course, we have a new King now, and it seemed a wonderful synergy. So I've danced a few times for the Royal Family, never for a King, and I thought, well, Raymond could dance for the King at my favorite place, the Royal Albert Hall."

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
