Madhya Pradesh's Three Villages Recognized as Best Tourism Destinations

Three villages in Madhya Pradesh namely Pranpur, Sabarvani, and Ladpura Khas--have been honored as 'Best Tourism Villages' by the central government in different categories on International Tourism Day.

Pranpur, located in Ashoknagar district, was recognized in the Craft category, while Sabarvani in Chhindwara district and Ladpura Khas in Niwari district received accolades in the Responsible Tourism category. The awards were part of the Best Tourism Village competition 2024, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on World Tourism Day.

Promoting Village Tourism The Best Tourism Villages Competition, introduced in 2023, aims to highlight villages that preserve and promote cultural and natural heritage through community involvement and sustainable practices. This year, 991 applications were received from 30 states and union territories, with 36 villages winning across eight categories.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav congratulated the people of Madhya Pradesh and the state's Tourism Department for the recognition. On social media, he said, "Madhya Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in tourism, and this award is proof of our commitment to rural tourism."

Sabarvani: A Hidden Gem Sabarvani village, located 6 km inside the Tamia development block of Chhindwara district, has been a tourism hotspot since 2019. The village, home to around 300 houses, has attracted over 300 international tourists, including visitors from South Africa, France, Russia, and Canada, who come to experience its culture, local cuisine, and participate in traditional activities like farming and animal husbandry.

The village offers a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by natural attractions such as Anhoni Hot Spring, Ghoghra Waterfall, and the buffer zone of Satpura National Park. Tourists can enjoy rural experiences like bullock cart rides, cow milking, and local tribal dances, enhancing their stay.

Pranpur: A Craft Lover’s Paradise Pranpur village, near Chanderi in Ashoknagar district, is known for its rich tradition of handloom weaving, passed down through generations. The village is home to over 50 artisans specializing in bamboo, wood, stone, jewelry, and clay crafts. Tourists can explore the village's unique cultural landscape, supported by facilities like the "Handloom Cafe" and an amphitheater for cultural performances.

Ladpura Khas: A Hub of Responsible Tourism Ladpura Khas in Niwari district exemplifies responsible tourism with its focus on sustainability and community-based tourism. The village’s serene environment and clean surroundings make it a favorite destination for those seeking an authentic rural experience.
