Delhi Court Grants Bail to Lalu Prasad and Sons in Land-for-Jobs Case

NEW DELHI: The Delhi court has granted bail to Lalu Prasad, the chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and former Railway Minister, along with his sons, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, in connection with the land-for-jobs case. The next court hearing is scheduled for October 25.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne approved the bail, allowing each of the accused to be released on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh. The judge noted that they had not been arrested during the investigation. The accused appeared in court following summons issued previously.

The summons was issued after the court acknowledged a supplementary charge sheet against the accused. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted its final report to the court on August 6. This report was based on a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Tejashwi Yadav commented on the situation, saying, “They keep indulging in political conspiracy. They misuse agencies. There is nothing concrete in this case. Our victory is certain.”

The case involves Group-D appointments made in the West Central Zone of the railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Prasad's tenure as railway minister from 2004 to 2009. The allegations claim that these appointments were secured in exchange for land parcels gifted or transferred by recruits to Lalu Prasad’s family or associates, according to the ED.
