New Zealand created history on Sunday by winning the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 title. This was New Zealand's first T20 World Cup title, including both men's and women's categories. The White Ferns defeated South Africa by 32 runs in Dubai on Sunday. Playing their second consecutive final, South Africa sent New Zealand in to bat and the Sophie Devine-led side performed well under pressure to score 158/5. Later, the Proteas were restricted to 126/9 and once again failed to win the title.

New Zealand won the prestigious ICC trophy, so let's discuss how much prize money they got.

Earlier this year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a 134% hike in the prize money for the winner of this edition of the Women's T20 World Cup. Hence, champions New Zealand received a massive cash prize of US$2.34 million (Rs 19.6 crore).

Apart from this, first runner-up South Africa was also given prize money of US$1.17 million (Rs 9.8 crore).

India got this much prize money

In this edition, ICC also announced that prize money will not be limited to the winner and runner-up but will also be given to the semi-finalists and the three best teams in the group stage. As per that rule, semi-finalists Australia and West Indies got US$675,000 (Rs 5.7 crore) each.

However, the group stage rankings are still not confirmed, but with two wins in four matches, Team India is likely to finish No. 6 and receive prize money of USD 270,000 (Rs 2.25 crore). The three best teams of the group stage will be given equal prize money.

It turned out to be a historic Sunday for New Zealand cricket as the White Ferns lifted the ICC trophy just hours after registering their first Test win in India in 36 years.
