The second Test match of the five-match Test series is to be played between India and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham from Wednesday, but before that, there was a stir due to the discovery of a suspicious package. A suspicious package was found in the Centenary Square near the area where the Indian team is staying, after which the members of the Indian team have been forbidden to go out as a precaution.
A BCCI source confirmed
A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed to news agency PTI that the players have been advised not to go out after a post on social media by the Birmingham City Center Police. Indian cricketers usually roam in areas near the team hotel, and before the second Test, they often visited Broad Street.
10 members of the team rested
A total of eight players, including captain Shubman Gill, practiced at Edgbaston on Tuesday, while 10 other members of the team rested. A post on X by Birmingham City Center Police read, 'We have cordoned off the area around Centenary Square in Birmingham City Center and are investigating a suspicious package. We were informed about this just before 3 pm. As a precaution, several buildings have been evacuated while it is being investigated. Please avoid going to that area.' However, the police removed the security cordon after an hour.
The team will try to make a comeback in the series
The Indian team is trailing 0-1 in the five-match Test series. The Indian team will be eyeing a comeback in the Test to be held in Birmingham. It will not be easy for India to make a comeback in the Birmingham Test. The Indian team has played eight matches in Birmingham since 1967, in which it has lost seven, while one match was a draw.
