Prince may have blown his chances of a reconciliation with his family after his backfired.
Royal insiders said speculation about how long his father may havewas in “poor taste”, while it was also claimed can “no longer trust him”. A Palace source said: “If there were anxieties about things remaining private, then Friday will not have done them the power of good.” Another added; “For a son who claims to want a family reconciliation, it’s certainly a very curious way to build bridges or offer olive branches. His beloved grandmother would have been truly horrified. The King is a kind man with a warm heart and quite enough on his plate to deal with, without all this from his son.”
In the interview Harry said he wanted to reconcile with the royals, while alleging his father was not currently speaking to him. He also said he doesn’t know how long his father has left to live, as King Charles continues his treatment for cancer.

Alisa Anderson, former press secretary to the late Queen, branded his comments about the King's health ‘unhelpful’. She said: “That's going to cause real concern and more speculation in the media and the wider public about what his diagnosis is, which is incredibly unhelpful going forward. What you don't want to do is have your private life played out in the media. So if you truly want reconciliation, you'll do it in private, not in a BBC News interview.”
It comes after the , 40, lost his legal challenge over his UK security arrangements at the Court of Appeal. In the interview he said: “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things but... there's no point in continuing to fight anymore.
"Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has, he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”

Harry stepped back as a senior member of the in January 2020, moving to California with wife Meghan and children Archie and Lilibet. After losing the court case Harry said it would be “impossible” for him to visit the UK safely with his family.
Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty Magazine, said Charles needs “total trust” and after the interview he cannot rely on Harry for this. She said “He is Head of State and Monarch and that has to come first as Charles vowed at his coronation. He will be very sad it has come to this. But if he can’t trust Harry, he has to avoid him until such time things change. If they ever do.
“By now Charles is used to Harry’s disloyalty and contradictions. But what he will not be prepared to put up with is his youngest son’s stubborn conviction that he is always right. Harry’s ego is so fragile he thinks the is against him. He refuses to take responsibility for his actions. He talked about shooting the Taliban in his book Spare and then wonders why he is on their hit list.
“If he wants reconciliation, why does he still attack his family? If he did say sorry to his father and those he has hurt, he would be admitting he was wrong. Harry has such a weak sense of self he appears incapable of doing this.”
She added: “Harry’s stubbornness will almost certainly prevent him from bringing his wife and children to the UK. At least in the immediate future. He said he realised he had upset the ‘family’ but never once offered to apologise. The King knows this. But he also understands that under Harry’s accusatory exterior he is extremely vulnerable.”
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said Harry’s hopes for a reconciliation with his family may be “a very long time in coming”. She said: “Imagine the scene: King Charles, presumably having been told that his younger son had given a TV interview, tunes into the BBC to hear Harry accuse him of ‘not caring’ about his safety.
“He hears that the establishment, and by implication the royal family, tried to imprison Harry and his wife and children, allowing their security to be downgraded in order to force them to stay in the UK. And he sees Harry talk about ‘some people wanting history to repeat itself’ – a reference, it would seem, to his mother’s security arrangements when she was killed in a car crash.”
She said: “Contrast this with the King’s very first broadcast the day after the late Queen died, in which he made a specific point of expressing his love for Harry and Meghan ‘as they continue to build their lives overseas’. The words that Harry used about losing his court case: that he was ‘devastated, gutted and surprised’ could well be the exact words that King Charles might echo about this latest bombshell interview.
“Harry is angry; he was seething with barely controlled emotion throughout his interview. At times he looked as if he might either scream or cry.”
She continued: “Father and son are not talking; Harry would like to be reconciled and has ‘forgiven his father, brother and stepmother’, for exactly what remains unclear, but that he cannot come to the UK with his family with the level of security he believes he needs unless he is invited.”
She said the interview may turn out to be a mistake: “Dream on Harry. You may be right in feeling that you deserve the same level of security as other people who have quit public life – but this was definitely not the way to forge any reconciliation with the family you were born into. And that invitation may be a very long time in coming.”
