Prince Archie's Little-known official royal title that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'snubbed'

Send Push

Prince Archie and his little sister Princess Lilibet were given royal titles despite parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle removing themselves as official members of the Royal Family.

However, despite taking the Prince and Princess handle, the Sussexes opted against giving Archie another royal title he would be entitled to. Archie, who turned 5 on Monday, May 6, was reportedly entitled to use the Earl of Dumbarton title, too. According to reports, his parents decided against using the title for their eldest child.

Archie and Lilibet's standing came after the two children inherited their royal titles after King Charles took to the throne. Before he was monarch, the duo did not have the titles.

When Lilibet was christened in March 2023, a Sussex spokesperson confirmed the couple had chosen to label their kids with the prince and princess titles. The statement read: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

The Royal Family's official website also updated their page shortly after to confirm the announcement. Royal historian Carolyn Harris also previously told Town & Country magazine: "Archie will be able to use the title of HRH Prince when Charles becomes King, but it is possible that he will not use this title."

Archie, Lilibet and mum Meghan will once again not be by Harry's side as he flew solo to the UK as part of an Invictus Games event. The Duke of Sussex is in the UK for a special event at St Paul's Cathedral for the Games he set up 10 years ago, but he will not meet up with his father during his short stay back in Britain.

His spokesperson did however say he hopes to see the King soon amid the monarch's cancer battle. While Harry's children are again kept away from the UK, reports suggest the duo could be key in mending frosty relationships between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
