Luis Diaz confirms Liverpool talks after Bayern Munich transfer links

Send Push

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has confirmed he remains in talks with the club over his future. The Colombia international has persistently been linked away from the side and now has two years remaning on his contract at Anfield.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona both have an interest in the attacker, but Liverpool thus far have been adamant that the 28-year-old is not for sale. Earlier in the summer it was said that Bayern director of sport Max Eberl made an approach and was told by the Premier League champions that the club will not enter into discussions for Diaz.

But speculation over potential moves has not halted. And despite scoring 17 goals last year as Liverpool won the title in Arne Slot's first season with the club, Diaz has yet to commit to a future with the Reds.

The former Porto star is in no rush to give anything away either. Diaz confirmed talks were underway with the club's hierarchy but stopped short of revealing any inclination he holds.

“We don’t know yet,” he told when asked where his future might lie. “Nothing, nothing (to say).

“We’re there talking with the management, we’re calm where I am. So nothing (to say), we’re talking about matters.”

The comment is the latest in a long line of quotes emerging from Diaz in recent weeks. The Premier League winner was recently taken to task by Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez in his homeland

"We’re there, negotiating," Diaz offered on that occasion. "We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision."

Asked about interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, he added: "We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now."

Diaz has admitted his team have been in touch with prospective clubs but made clear he is happy to continue his time with Liverpool - seemingly with or without a new deal. "We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market that’s opening. We’re trying to arrange what’s best for us," he said.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so," Diaz added. "They’ve welcomed me very well from day one. If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy. Now it’s up to them.”
