Manchester United take on West Ham on Sunday as the two Premier League sides look to ready themselves for the new season. Ruben Amorim has been incredibly busy this summer with regards to enhancing the squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag in November, welcoming a host of fresh faces to Old Trafford.
United struck a deal with Wolves for Matheus Cunha as the early window opened in June in a £59.5million move, before finally sealing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo after negotiations with Brentford dragged out for the best part of a month. In the end, the two sides agreed a fee which could reach as high as £71m including add-ons, as the Cameroon international looks to hit the ground running in the north west.
It comes after United suffered a sub-par 16th-place finish in the Premier League last season, and fans will hope for a better showing in 2025/26 given that Amorim has received the backing of the board and a full pre-season campaign. West Ham, meanwhile, finished 14th last time around, and will hope to start the season strongly when they kick off their Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Sunderland next month.
