Queen legend had a secret daughter which he kept secret from the , it has been revealed. The woman, whose identity is still being protected, confessed she has been shrouded in privacy since she was a child. And although she has now come forward to speak about her dad, she is only known as B.
Freddie had a fling with a pal's wife in 1976 and the only people that knew of her existence was his bandmates, family and long-term partner .
Freddie Mercury's decision to maintain the privacy of his secret daughter for 15 years led many to believe that their relationship was somewhat estranged. But that could not have been further from the truth.
In a new biography Love, Freddie, written by Lesley-Ann Jones, it has emerged that the Queen star had made every attempt to solidify a close relationship with B.
So much so, in a handwritten letter which has been published in the book, B claimed that he treated her like a "treasured possession."
Freddie sadly passed away in November 1991 from AIDS but before his death, he regularly visited B at the home she shared with her mum and step-father.
According to Lesley-Ann, despite being raised by her step-dad, B knew from toddler age that Freddie was her father.
In her family home, the singer even had a room in their house, in order to spend as much quality time with her as possible.
While the iconic star was on tour around the world with his band Queen or penning new tracks in the recording studio, Freddie made sure he would call B everyday.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Lesley- Ann told the publication: "She knew from toddlerhood which of the two men was her real father."
She added: "Outside the unusual family, privacy and discretion were maintained to a degree that not even some members of Freddie's personal household had any idea that he had a child."
And in a handwritten letter provided by B, it clearly illustrates the love Freddie and his daughter had for one another.
The letter read: " was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life."
B added: "He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people's standards, unusual and even outrageous. That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession."
B's life has been a private one all her life. And it seems she prefers to keep it that way for the sake of her husband and children.
She said: "The life I live with my husband and our family in another country is intensely private. We want things to stay that way. We cherish our peaceful and anonymous life, and we want nothing to disturb it. Nobody needs to know who I am."
