Police have launched a manhunt after at least four people were left injured following a horror axe attack at a train station in France.
Emergency services rushed to train station this morning following reports of an axe attack. According to reports, one of the victims had their hand cut off and another had their skull split open. The other two passengers endured less serious injuries.
According to local media, several people were involved in a fight that broke out at around 8am. French journalist Pascal Praud addressed the incident on C News and said: "One has a severed hand and the other is hit in the head with visible brain. The police are on the scene."
A spokesperson for Île-de-police union UN1TE told TV network BFMTV that the victims are "extremely young individuals". Train operators RER E issued a warning about travel disuption following the incident.
They wrote on : "An incident on board the TUVA train currently at the platform at Ozoir station is forcing us to keep the train at the platform. Waiting for police intervention."
Police believe multiple people are responsible for the bloodied attack. Sources told French broadcaster Actu17, that around ten people were armed with bladed weapons. According to the source, passengers were attacked on the train. The incident took place while the RER suburban express train was at the station. Ozoir-la-Ferrière is a commune located in the heart of the Seine-et-Marne.
Gilbert Collard, former member of the European Parliament, said on Twitter: "A fight on a train at Ozoir la Ferriere station where axes were allegedly used. Two seriously injured, one has a severed hand, the other is hit in the head. It's becoming increasingly crazy and dangerous to survive in France."
One frustrated local said: "This is my old town. A very quiet, suburban and green town, but it has been plagued by drugs for several years."
