Max Verstappen is staring down the barrel of a should he pick up another penalty point at either of the next two Grands Prix, in Canada and Austria respectively. In shocking scenes at last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, , 27, looked to intentionally crash into star .
His actions consequently landed him with three-points on his FIA super licence, making it 11 in total for the calendar year. stars will receive a suspension if they accumulate 12 penalty points on their licence over a 12-month period.
However, points do expire 12 months on from when they were first given. Penalty points are issued for incidents ranging from collisions to slow driving, and the more severe the incident, then the more points you're docked.

Max Verstappen - 112024 Austrian Grand Prix: Verstappen earned two points for a collision with Lando Norris. These points expire on June 30, 2025.
2024 Mexico City Grand Prix: Another two points came in Mexico for forcing Norris off the track. These expire on October 27, 2025.
2024 Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint: The Dutchman was hit with a point for being under the minimum virtual safety car delta time. This will expire on November 1, 2025.
2024 Qatar Grand Prix: Another point was handed to him for driving unnecessarily slowly on a cooldown lap during qualifying. This will expire on December 1, 2025.
2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: The star was landed with another two for causing a collision with Oscar Piastri. These will expire on December 8, 2025.
2025 Spanish Grand Prix: The latest incident with Russell has cost him another three points. These will expire on June 1, 2026.
Verdict: With just one point away, Verstappen now needs to keep his nose clean, until at least June 30.
Liam Lawson - Six2024 Qatar Grand Prix: Racing Bulls star Lawson was hit with two points in Qatar for causing a smash with Valtteri Bottas. These expire on December 1, 2025.
2025 Bahrain Grand Prix: A clash with Lance Stroll saw him slapped with a point. This expires on April 13, 2026.

2025 Bahrain Grand Prix: A coming together with Nico Hulkenberg saw him pick up another two points in Bahrain. These expire on April 13, 2026.
2025 Miami Grand Prix: Another collision, this time with Fernando Alonso, saw Lawson docked a point. This will expire on May 2, 2026.
Verdict: With his first points not expiring until December, Lawson needs to be careful to avoid reaching 12 points.
Nico Hulkenberg - Four2024 Austrian Grand Prix Sprint: The Sauber driver took two points for a clash with Alonso in Austrai. These will expire on June 30, 2025.
2024 Italian Grand Prix: A brush with Yuki Tsunoda on the track saw him hit with another two points. These expire on September 1, 2025.
Verdict: The German star looks to be safe with just four points and his first two expiring at June's end.
Oscar Piastri - Four2024 Brazilian Grand Prix: Two points were handed down to the McLaren star for colliding with Lawson. These expire on November 2, 2025.
2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: A close call with Franco Colapinto docked him another two points. These expire on December 8, 2025.
Verdict: Piastri will have to use a degree of caution from now until November to avoid the the threat of more points and a ban.
2024 Brazilian Grand Prix: Haas' Bearman caught Franco Colapinto in Brazil and was given two points for his troubles. These expire on November 2, 2025.
2025 Monaco Grand Prix: Overtaking Carlos Sainz under a red flag in FP2 saw him docked another two. These expire on May 23, 2026.
Verdict: Bearman will also have to tread lightly until November, when his first two points expire.
Lando Norris - Three2024 Qatar Grand Prix: McLaren's Norris was slapped with three points for not slowing down for double yellow flags in . These expire on December 1, 2025.
Verdict: With nine more points required until December to land a ban, Norris needs to keep a watchful eye on his driving, yet with no points so far this year, reason suggests he'll avoid such a penalty.
Lance Stroll - Three2024 Qatar Grand Prix: A collision with Alex Albon landed Aston Martin's Stroll with two points. These expire on December 1, 2025.
2025 Monaco Grand Prix: A brush with Charles Leclerc in FP1 earned him two more. These expire on May 23, 2026.
Verdict: Stroll needs to maintain discipline, until at least December, when his first points expire.
2025 Bahrain Grand Prix: Williams' Sainz forced Andrea Kimi Antonelli off the circuit and picked up two points. These expire on April, 13 2026.
Verdict: Sainz looks to be safe, providing he doesn't rack up 10 points by next April.
Fernando Alonso - Two2024 Austrian Grand Prix:
A clash with Zhou Guanyu saw the Aston Martin driving Spanish star hit with two points. These expire on June 30, 2025.
Verdict: Alonso looks to be home and dry with his two points vanishing at the end of the month.
Alex Albon - Two2024 Qatar Grand Prix: Albon of Williams was awarded two points for a collision with Kevin Magnussen. These expire on December 1, 2025.
Verdict: Albon should be free of any threat of a ban as long as he maintains his good record in 2025.

2024 Mexico City Grand Prix: Two points were given to the Alpine driver after he had a coming together with Lawson. These expire on October 27, 2025.
Verdict: Colapinto has until October to not make any errors and gather more points.
George Russell - One2024 Qatar Grand Prix: The Mercedes man took a single point for failing to maintain a 10 car-length distance behind the Safety Car. This expires on December 1, 2025.
Verdict: Russell has yet to collect a point in 2025 making a race to 12 points, and a ban, unlikely.
Drivers with no points to their name, as of yet, include Antonelli, Gabriel Bortoleto, Pierre Gasly, Isack Hadjar, , Leclerc, Esteban Ocon and Tsunoda.
