and boxing promoter have been given the green light to agree to a £1million bet ahead of the former's fight with .
Eubank Jr and Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in a blockbuster middleweight dust-up. Ahead of the bout, Hearn initially offered the large wager to fellow promoter Ben Shalom, but the BOXXER chief didn't want to part with seven figures.
While Shalom wasn't onboard with the bet, Eubank Jr certainly was. The British boxing star has been trading barbs with Hearn throughout the build-up and is all for the idea of getting one over the Matchroom boss. "Come on Eddie, a million quid, yeah?" he said in a video uploaded to his social media. "Okay, let's find out if you are a man of your word or just a lying hype job.
"I formally accept your £1million bet. And the £1million will be our own personal money, not company money or purse money. Just a straight-up between me and you. The money will go into escrow and the winner takes all. Now I look forward to watching you try to weasel yourself out of this bet like the rodent I know you are."

With just days to go until the bout, Shalom told in an interview that British Boxing Board of Control General Secretary Robert Smith has approved the pre-fight bet and sees no issues with it. "He just keeps trying to get out of this bet that he put on," Shalom said. "He put this on and now he wants to go off it and he keeps running towards Robert Smith to try and get out of it... just do it! It's absolutely fine, we're betting on to win. Robert Smith has told me he saw no problem with it."
When asked why there was no official confirmation via email, Shalom replied: "Because when it's a bonus and it's a win and you're backing your fighter to us, it's us versus them, we're both getting paid out of the event, you can easily have an extra million for the winner and less for the loser. Absolutely fine to happen, but he keeps going on about this changing of the rules thing and all that stuff, but you don't need to change the rules, let's just do it."
The offer came after Shalom initially offered a £100,000 bet to Hearn before the latter then priced his rival out by adding another zero to the wager. In a previous joint interview on iFL TV, Shalom said: “I know that Eddie knows, he’s just given me £100,000.”
At that point, Hearn refused to back down, replying: “Not at all. We can have a bigger bet. We can have £1million, in escrow tomorrow morning… on the fight.” Taken aback by the offer, Shalom replied: “You’re going to bet £1m on Connor Benn? Listen, he’s [Hearn] got billions, he’s inherited a lot of money.”
