Aldi has revealed a full list of places where it is looking to open new supermarket stores in the next few years.

Just this week the discount supermarket chain announced its plans to open 23 new stores before the end of the year in places including Muswell Hill in London and Mere Green in Birmingham. Aldi, which currently has over 1,000 stores across the country, has previously said it aims to have 1,500 stores and often shares places where it wants to open stores.

Today the supermarket chain announced another 20 locations it is looking into which includes places in London, Manchester, Kent, Cornwall and Somerset. But keep in mind, this is just a “wish list” of locations - it does not mean Aldi will definitely go on to open shops at these places.

The supermarket is searching for freehold town-centre, edge-of-centre, and retail park sites suitable for property development. The sites should be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces. Ideally the location will be near a main road with good visibility and access. If you believe a site could fit Aldi's requirements for a store you can email the retailer at: realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk.

Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “We are committed to bringing high quality, affordable groceries to millions more British families. With more than 1,000 stores across the country, our footprint is definitely growing, but we know there are still a number of towns that either don’t have an Aldi or have shown demand for more stores.”
