During the 121st episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on many important issues, beginning with the Pahalgam terror attack and paying tribute to legendary ISRO scientist Dr. Kasturirangan. But a major highlight of his address was a strong appeal to all Indians: "Everyone should install the Sachet App."
But what exactly is the Sachet App? And why is PM Modi urging citizens to use it?
What Is the Sachet App?The Sachet App has been developed by India's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
It’s designed to alert users about natural disasters such as:

- Storms
- Lightning strikes
Importantly, the app provides location-based alerts, meaning you’ll get notifications specific to your state, district, and even your immediate surroundings.
It also supports multiple regional languages, ensuring accessibility to people across India.
Why Did PM Modi Highlight the Sachet App?Referring to the recent earthquake in Myanmar and India's rescue operations under Operation Brahma, PM Modi stressed how preparedness and early warning systems can save lives.
He said,
"Your alertness and vigilance are essential in dealing with natural disasters. The Sachet App will provide you with early warnings before disasters strike."
PM Modi also mentioned that the latest weather updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) are available through the app, making it a crucial tool for staying safe during unpredictable weather conditions.
Key Benefits of the Sachet App:- Early disaster warnings specific to your location
- Real-time weather updates from IMD
- Multilingual support for easy access
- Information during emergencies like storms, floods, and earthquakes
- Improved disaster preparedness for families and communities
PM Modi urged citizens not only to download the Sachet App but also to share it widely and encourage friends and family to stay alert.
By being informed in advance, many lives can be saved during natural disasters.
