According to news agency ANI, taking advantage of the darkness, the Pakistani intruder was seen deliberately crossing the international border and moving towards the border security fence. After which the BSF took action and opened fire on him. The body was handed over to the police after daybreak.
Officials said on Thursday that the Pakistani intruder was shot dead in the Ferozepur sector on the night of May 7-8. The body has been handed over to the Punjab Police.
Infiltration attempt on LoC
There was also an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on May 6. Officials said that on Tuesday, a Pakistani intruder was arrested on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the intruder is around 20 years old and was detained by the army personnel immediately after he crossed the Line of Control and entered this side. The arrested person was taken for questioning. At present, the army is investigating this matter.
Punjab on alert mode
After India's air strike under Operation Sindoor on terror camps in Pakistan and occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night in retaliation for the killing of tourists in Halgam, events in border areas of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir have escalated rapidly. Security has been beefed up in both states.
All airports in Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir have been closed for three days. 70 flights from Amritsar airport have been cancelled. Schools in border districts have been closed for holidays.
Necessary arrangements have been made in hospitals and doctors and other staff have also been asked not to leave the station. The Retreat Ceremony at Attari-Wagah border has been closed for spectators.
