India's new Test captain Shubman Gill will not be a part of the India A team in the second unofficial Test against England Lions to be held in Northampton from June 6. During the announcement of the team for the five-Test series against England, the BCCI had said that Gill and his fellow Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudarshan will join the India A team before the second match.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Gill and Sudarshan will now go to England with the main team on June 6. Although KL Rahul can play in the second match against England Lions, he will join the team on Tuesday (June 3).
The first Test match between India and England will be played in Leeds on June 20.
At the same time, experienced fast bowler Chris Woakes will also play in this match for England Lions, he has returned after recovering from injury.
Akash Deep was also available for India A selection. He was away from cricket for a long time after getting injured in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. After this, he returned in April after getting fit and played for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. He was also available during the first match, but he trained with the team and bowled a little during the break on all four days.
Let us tell you that the first match between India A and England Lions ended in a draw. Batting at number 3 in the first innings for India, Akash scored a double century, Dhruv Jurel scored half-centuries in both innings and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored half-centuries in the second innings.
After the second match, an intra-squad match will be played between India's senior team and India A from June 13.
