Hello Mumbai City Desk :
Under the guise of elections, BMC’s bulldozer demolished illegal constructions near Marve Beach in Mumbai.
Whenever elections are announced in Mumbai, illegal constructors become active. This is because during election time, most BMC officials get occupied with election duties, and these illegal builders take advantage of the situation. A similar incident occurred in Malad P North Ward, where several illegal shops sprang up near the T-junction close to Marve Beach within just two days.
Pravin Muluk sub Engineer, P North BMC.Despite being busy with election-related work, the BMC P North Ward took swift action and demolished the illegal structures. They made it clear that such activities will not be tolerated anymore. Assistant Engineer Vijay Mankar from BMC P North Ward stated that as soon as they learned about the illegal construction, they assigned the task of demolishing it to sub-engineers Kuber Shinde and Pravin Mulk. Both officers arrived on Thursday morning with not one or two, but three bulldozers, and razed the entire illegal construction to the ground.
kuber shinde sub Engineer, P North BMCExecutive Engineer Sagar Rane from the Building Factory Department in the P North Ward explained that land mafias and illegal constructors tend to become more active during elections, engaging in large-scale illegal constructions. After elections, when BMC serves them notices, they go to court and often manage to get a stay order, leading to a waste of BMC’s time and resources on legal work. Therefore, this time the BMC has decided that no matter how busy its officers are during elections, if any illegal construction takes place in their ward, especially in open land areas like Madh, Aksa Beach, or Marve Beach, they will demolish it. They also plan to take legal action against all illegal builders.
