Actor Mukul Dev, known for his work across Hindi, Punjabi, and Telugu cinema, passed away on May 23 in Delhi at the age of 54 following a brief illness. The actor was reportedly admitted to the ICU and had been hospitalised for over a week before his health took a turn for the worse on Friday night.
His funeral was held on Saturday (May 24) at Lodhi Crematorium in Nizamuddin, Delhi. Family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects.
In emotional and heartbreaking visuals that surfaced on social media platforms, Mukul's brother, actor Rahul Dev, was seen performing the final rites, surrounded by grieving family members and friends offering condolences.
Earlier today, Rahul took to Instagram to confirm the news of Mukul's shocking demise and share details of the cremation. Sharing a photo of his late brother on his Instagram story, he wrote, "Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night... He's survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM."
The sudden news of Mukul's death has left many in the film and television fraternity shocked. Tributes poured in across social media, with co-stars and colleagues expressing their grief and remembering the actor's contribution to the industry.
Mukul Dev, who started his career in the mid-90s, featured in several notable films and television shows, often praised for his versatility and screen presence. He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev.
Mukul Dev featured in several TV shows like Gharwali Uparwali, Kasshish, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, and others. Over time, he became known for his roles in popular movies like Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, R... Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.
He started his acting career in television with the serial Mumkin in 1996, playing the role of Vijay Pandey. Born in New Delhi to a Punjabi family, Mukul was a versatile actor who appeared not only in Hindi films and television serials but also in a few Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films.
Mukul completed his aviation training at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (National Flying Academy) in Uttar Pradesh. He worked as a commercial pilot for nearly 10 years and also ran an aeronautical training institute in Delhi.
