The state government on Tuesday gave its approval for the new visitors' plaza near the garden gate of Mantralaya.
The Home Department will bear the cost of approximately Rs65 lakh for the visitors plaza work which has been undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD).
The new facility is a part of the Mantralaya security plan to protect the state government headquarters. The plaza will have a security check system based on the latest techniques, a waiting hall, an entry pass counter with a scanner, along with locker facilities for the visitors.

Currently, the visitors' entry with the DigiPravesh system is operated from the makeshift structure near the garden gate. Since the counters are located opposite the Akashwani auditorium situated in the All India Radio building, the road connecting to the MLA Hostel and Mantralaya remains crowded with long queues, making it difficult for motorists to negotiate and enter the Mantralaya building.
