Indore (Madhya Pradesh): City crime branch arrested two individuals from Mandsaur with MD drugs worth ₹1 crore in the international market, an officer said on Saturday. They had come to deliver the drugs to a person when they were caught.
According to DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, the crime branch has been actively gathering intelligence regarding the purchase, sale, and activities related to illegal narcotic substances and taking strict action against those involved.
In a recent action, the crime branch received a tip-off that two individuals were about to arrive under the MR-10 bridge to supply MD drugs to a person. Acting on this information, the team conducted a raid at the mentioned place and caught two men from there.
Indore: Excise Department Cracks Down on Illegal Ahatas, 27 Cases Registered on Day 2During questioning, they identified themselves as Khalid Hussain and Nadeem Khan, residents of Mandsaur district. During the search, a total of 151 grams of MD drugs were recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against the accused under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act at and further investigation is underway.
The accused were allegedly supplying MD drugs to the youth of the city, aiming to get them addicted, and were expanding their network among habitual offenders. During preliminary investigation, the accused revealed that they used to supply drugs across various areas of the city. They sourced the drugs from other states and sold them in small quantities to youths in the city.
35 cases registered, 73 arrested this year
According to the officials, the crime branch has registered 35 cases and arrested 73 people with 1.49 kilograms of MD drugs during January to June 25 this year. The value of the seized drugs is over ₹10 crore in the international market.
Whereas, the crime branch had seized 52.50 grams of MD drugs and arrested only 3 people during January to June 2024. Officials claimed that the team is still working and gathering information about the drug dealers/suppliers in the city and more accused would be arrested in future.
