Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a two-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her mother with a wooden stick under Tejaji Nagar police station limits on Friday evening.
The incident occurred in Nayta Mundla area and came to light when the child’s father returned home from work to find her lying on bed in a pool of blood.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the mother, whose mental condition is reportedly unstable, was distressed by the sound of her daughter’s constant crying. In a fit of extreme anger, she grabbed a wooden stick and struck the child on the head, killing her instantly.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Radhika, daughter of Ravi Kachnare, a native of Dewas district who was residing in Nayta Mundla. Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markram said that Radhika’s mother Bijal lost her temper and hit her with the stick, leading to her death on the spot.
When Ravi returned home around 6 pm, he discovered his daughter in a pool of blood. He told police that his wife had been suffering from mental health issues for the past year, although earlier she used to take good care of her children. The police registered a case of murder against Bijal and arrested her within hours.
Father was preparing for her birthday for the last four days
Ravi revealed that he had been preparing for Radhika’s second birthday for the past four days. He had planned a small cake-cutting ceremony on Saturday. However, the joyful celebration turned into a tragedy when she was killed just a day before her birthday.
Woman initially denied involvement
Ravi said that when he asked his wife about the incident, she initially denied involvement and claimed that ‘someone else came and killed her daughter.’ However, a bloodstained wooden stick found at the spot pointed towards her involvement.
Son told father that mother killed sister
The couple’s six-year-old son, who was present in the house at the time of incident, reportedly told his father that his mother hit Radhika on the head with a stick and then locked the gate.
