Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A labourer killed a 40-year-old contractor in the Banganga area after a dispute over two days of unpaid wages. The accused attacked the contractor with a brick during a heated argument and later fled the scene.
The contractor, left bleeding on the road, was rushed to the hospital by family members where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sunil of Bhagat Singh Nagar.
The deceased was identified as Nirantar Khalkho, a resident of Govind Nagar, Kharcha.
As per the police, Nirantar worked as a labour contractor for a private company. He and the accused Sunil knew each other well and often worked together. On Sunday, both were consuming alcohol near the Banganga Bridge when an argument broke out between them over two days of unpaid wages.
As the argument escalated, Sunil struck Nirantar on the head with a brick before fleeing the spot. Nirantar lay bleeding on the road until passersby informed his wife. Family members rushed him to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
Family members said Nirantar had been working with a rolling company for the past 10 years and also took labour contracts. Sunil used to work with him and had even visited his house several times.
Nirantar originally hailed from Chhattisgarh. He is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter.
