Minister of state for home (city) Yogesh Kadam has strongly reacted to allegations made by Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab, warning that he may move a breach of privilege motion in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. The controversy erupted after Parab, on the final day of the monsoon session, accused Kadam of having a family connection to a dance bar permit.
Addressing the media on Monday, Kadam vehemently denied the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.
“There is absolutely no direct link between my family members and the ownership of any dance bar. Whatever wrongdoing has been committed is the sole responsibility of the bar owner, not anyone related to me,” Kadam said.
He further added that he had personally instructed the police commissioners of Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas to take strict action against any dance bars involved in illegal activities.
“If I had any vested interest or intention to protect illegal operations, I wouldn’t have allowed the police to take action. The fact that I initiated these actions proves my clean intentions,” he said.
Kadam also questioned Parab’s motives, implying that the MLC may be attempting to derail the crackdown on illegal dance bars.
“Does Anil Parab want to stop the actions I’ve initiated against unlawful dance bars?” Kadam asked, accusing Parab of undermining efforts to enforce law and order.
He also stated his intention to formally request the chairman of the Legislative Council to expunge the remarks made by Parab from the official record.
“As per Rule 35, any member intending to make allegations against a minister must give prior notice. Parab failed to do so. Therefore, his statements are not only out of order but must be removed from the council records,” he argued.

He said the silt removal was essential to prevent flooding in Khed city and Mhapral during the monsoons.
“This work was essential to prevent flooding. If any party workers, after receiving proper orders from the Bombay High Court, are involved in sand or silt-related business, what is the harm?” he questioned.
Kadam emphasised that the allegations were not just factually incorrect, but also an attempt to malign his image for political gain.
