Karan Johar is one such name in Bollywood today, without whom the discussion of Hindi cinema seems incomplete. Film producer, director, and host of the famous talk show 'Koffee with Karan', Karan is always in the news. His success has taken him to the heights of fame, but controversies have also not left him. Especially, the tag of 'nepotism' is often put on him. Recently, in a conversation with Raj Shamani, Karan spoke openly about this tag and many aspects of his life.

How did the tag of nepotism come?
When Raj Shamani asked when this talk of becoming the face of nepotism started, Karan laughingly said, "I don't know when it happened. I have always been a part of the industry. My father was in the film industry." Karan's father Yash Johar was a famous producer, who laid the foundation of Dharma Productions. Karan admitted that he got a place in the industry easily because of his father, but it was not an unfair advantage. He said, "I was a part of my father's legacy. It was natural."
Took a big risk for the first film
Talking about his first film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', Karan said that it was a big risk for him. He said, "My father trusted his son who was making his first film. If it flopped, we would have had to sell our house." Karan said that there was a lot of pressure and he also had to prove his ability like others. His hard work and talent brought him success, but the tag of nepotism stuck with him.
Did 'Koffee with Karan' change the image?
'Koffee with Karan' made Karan famous in every household, but this show also changed his image. Without naming anyone, Karan said, "After the show started, I got a strange image, as if I am a special kind of person." He said that people make certain assumptions about him, which are not completely true. Karan said, "People who know me closely understand my true nature. I am a true person, but I cannot give explanations to everyone." Karan admitted that some people consider him a warm person, while some have a negative image in his eyes. He said, "I cannot make everyone happy. Those who know me understand my heart." He said, "Karma is my biggest religion. I feel that I should never hurt anyone, and should not come in anyone's way. Here people say that I ruined someone's career. No, I did not spoil anyone. I just did my job. This is the belief of the people."

Last directed this film
Talking about the work front, the last released film directed by Karan was 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani'. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were seen in this film. Released in the year 2023, this film performed average at the box office. At the same time, the film 'Kesari 2' made under his production house has been released recently.
